Considering the importance of Medical Tourism, the Department of Tourism in Association with the hospitals has established a Medical Tourism Information Centre in the Tamil Nadu Tourism Complex and Travel Desks set up in Chennai and Madurai.
A core committee of Medical experts, the Directorate of Medical Education to oversee the system and visitors needs. MEDI TOUR INDIA [NGO] to help with a comprehensive data base of Leading Hospitals. TTDC website will update information through its portal for the benefit of such tourists.
Important decisions taken up by Core Committee are:
- Identify the list of Hospitals & coordinate with them.
- To print Folders on Medical Tourism.
- To setup Travel Desks at listed Hospitals.
- To organize Seminars / Workshop.
- Capacity Oriented Training for Travel/Medical Tourism Desk staff.
